The Orchard
Roof extension and complete external remodelling of family residence within a designate Area of Outstanding National Beauty. Responding to the owner’s wish for the property to better reflect the surrounding traditional properties and its rural setting, the existing facing brick, UPVC windows, fascia boards and concrete roof tiles were replaced with render, traditional clay tile and building elements formed of traditional timber materials. The roof form was carefully remodelled to maximise internal space creating additional bedrooms whilst not overwhelming the single-storey massing of the existing property, thus reflecting neighbouring historic properties and respecting the amenity of the adjoining property.
